5 Years!!!!!!

As I sit here tonight thinking back on the what was happening this very moment 5 years ago I get a sick feeling in my stomach and a huge lump in my throat.  I was in labor with our precious Mamie.  Knowing that she would be coming out and we would never hear her cry.  She would be born a sleeping angel.  Wow...... the emotions and memories flood through me like it happened just yesterday.  I sit and think about what she would be doing today.  Turning 5 is a big milestone.  She would be getting ready to start Kindergarten in the Fall.  She would be in the same grade as her cousins Cooper, Hayden and Brayden.  She would be going to Baker Elementary and be just a grade behind her cousin Silas.  I know they would all be such great friends.  Over these past years I have learned so much from her.  How to love better, how to lean on my Faith, how to take every moment as it comes and cherish all of them, to give back and help others, a...

Race Update

The Race to Remember 5K that benefits my non-profit Mamie's Poppy Plates is getting so close and I am getting super nervous and excited all at once :)  I know we are going to have an amazing turn out like the past 2 years.  Just saying lots of prayers that it all comes together just the way we are all planning.  We have so many amazing people helping out and I am ever so thankful for the love and energy they are putting into this event.  For those of you out there that don't know this is our biggest fundraiser for the year.  We raise 70% of our funds through this race.  What this money helps us do is expand and offer more families who are experiencing the tragic loss of their baby a special plate at no charge. If you are interested it learning more about MPP go check out our site at www.mamiespoppyplates.com . I was talking to Tricia with www.photoboothetc.com the other day about all the props the race committee came up with for the open air photo bo...

Getting Close

33 weeks today and feeling big and ready for our sweet little Winnie to get here.  Things have been going pretty good.  I am staying super busy with Burke, Mamie's Poppy Plates and my new business with Rodan+Fields that I started back in April.  I like staying busy.  It is really keeping my mind off of the worry that all you mom's that have lost a baby know so well. The fact that this little one is a girl has brought on a little anxiety.  She loves my right side and seems to move just like Mamie did.  I don't know how many times I have been talking to her or other people and called her Mamie.  That has been hard but I am sure that happens even if you have a child that is living and get pregnant with the same sex. I saw Dr. Sellers last week and first off I have to say the Cornerstone Clinic is looking SO good.  They have finally decided to move out of the 80's. :)  I always spend a little more time up there than I think I should.  ...

Hello World

Hello world, I know I know it has been a while since I posted last. Things have been a little busy around here. My photography business usually slows down the first of the year but has not done so this year. I am so thankful for having a job that I absolutely love. Mamie's Poppy Plates has been also keeping me super busy. We are working on a new awesome website and I signed papers last Friday down at Mitchell Williams to get our 501(c)(3). When that comes back we will officially be a non-profit organization. I can't believe it! I have spent some time up in NWA also meeting with people and we have partnered up with Imagine Studio and have formed a group of girls up there to head up MPP there. It is an awesome group of women who have been personally touched by a loss themselves or have had a friend that has had a loss. I am truly amazed everyday who God brings into my life. He is so good and I know this project is going to go so far thanks to so many of you out the...

We are having a BOY!

Sorry for the delay on announcing the sex of our little Olive. We found out last week that we are having a baby boy and we are SO excited. We would have been excited either way we just want a healthy and happy baby here on earth with us. We already have a name for our sweet little guy. His full name will be Burke Kenneth Adams. Burke (what we will call him) is my mother's maiden name and we have planned to use it since the first day we started talking about babies. Kenneth is after Taylor's dad and that is also Taylor's first name. I wasn't prepared for the crazy emotions I had after finding out the sex. I wasn't sad at all because it was a boy I would have been the same way if it was a girl. It has just been a very emotional roller coaster. I have kind of kept myself separated from this baby. I just don't want my heart to get hurt again. The feelings are SO hard to explain. You mothers out there that are reading this that have lost and then had a...

The loss of another baby

Last week was another really hard week. We were super busy in the office when I got a text from my sweet sweet friend Mitzi saying they had gone in for their 20 week ultrasound and there was no heartbeat. I wanted to start screaming. WHY! Why is this happening to so many people that I love? Why does it happen to anyone at all. It just isn't fair. The pain you feel..... I can't even describe it. No one should have to join this horrible club. I immediately picked up the phone and called her back. As soon as I heard her sweet voice on the other end my eyes welled up with tears. She told me she didn't know what happened. I could tell she was in total shock. We closed down shop here and Britney and Amanda got out with me to go gather some very important things for Mitzi. Touch has been so important to me. Anything that Mamie touched is so precious to me. I headed to Target and found a soft cream blanket that we could wrap the baby in, I also found 2 books that really helped me t...

Time is flying by

I can't believe we are in the middle of October. Where in the world are the days going? Everything has been going pretty good around here. I have been super busy with work and Mamie's Poppy Plates . We had our second board meeting last night and were in a trade show a few weeks ago. We are getting such a great response. The garden is blooming again and it is so beautiful. Taylor and I are planning on picking leaves up soon and I will take some pictures to share with you guys. Dad and I met with the man down at the cemetery and got everything changed around. I can't even begin to tell you how much better I feel. He told us that the headstone should be moved by this Friday unless there is a funeral. I am keeping my fingers crossed. While we were down there Mamie's little wind chime was going crazy. :) So many people have been asking me about where Taylor and I are with this whole trying to get pregnant thing... well all I can say is that we are still taki...

Introducing Mamie's Poppy Plates

As you all know, I am Mamie's mom, and Mamie was my first child. I was pregnant with her from October 2008 to June 25th, 2009 when she was born a sleeping angel (stillborn) two and a half weeks before her due date. Stillbirth and infant death are realities that too many parents face even today. Did you know that each year 1 in 115 babies delivered is stillborn? And 1 in every 102 newborns die before the age of 28 days old? Now, a year after losing Mamie, I have started Mamie's Poppy Plates, my organization providing keepsakes for parents who are not able to take their babies home from the hospital. Because handprints and footprints are something that we cherish as parents of children in Heaven or here on this earth, I wanted to find a beautiful way to preserve such a precious reminder of our babies. Your donation of $13 will provide a plate to bereaved families who are delivering at St. Vincent Hospital. Their baby’s birth stats, hand and footprints will be stampe...
