Burke: 1 Week Old

Thing have been going well around here. Slowly getting rid of Burke's jaundice and he is finally putting on weight. As of last Friday he was back to his birth weight of 5lbs. 13oz. but he should have been heavier. I was a little stressed out over the weekend and the first part of this week trying to get him to eat eat eat. We went in yesterday and he is up to 6lbs. 3oz. I was so proud of him. He has been sleeping great and is such a good little baby. We feel so blessed to have him. Below are some pictures I took last week. Hope you all have a blessed weekend. - Sarah

Owen comes to visit

We were so excited to see our good friends Jayna and Matthew this past weekend. Owen as you all know has a very special place in our hearts. He was born 2 days before Mamie and I am his Godmother. What a sweet little guy. He was so interested in Burke. He kept peeking over in his Moses basket saying, "That's baby Burke, he sleepen, sheeeeeeee" We had a great visit. I so wish they lived here so I could see them more. :) After they left Taylor and I stripped Burke down and took him out to get some sunlight for his jaundice. Man does he love it out in that heat. We were sweating so bad and he was all laid back soaking it in. - Sarah

Mamie's 2nd Birthday

This past Saturday was Mamie's 2nd birthday in Heaven. I can't believe it has already been 2 years. Where has the time gone. I remember that day like it was yesterday and I think I will for the rest of my life. The days leading up were the worst as usual. I do feel very blessed that God decided to bring Burke to us just in time for her birthday. Being able to look at his sweet face calmed my nerves and warmed my heart. He is part of her and that makes thing a little sweeter. Taylor and I met my family and Amanda (who is practically family) down at the cemetery. It was a beautiful day and the wind was blowing her chime. The sound was so beautiful. As soon as Silas got there he had to show Taylor and I the card he made for Mamie to send up to her in Heaven. He amazes me at how connected he is to her. We released balloons and then headed to the house for cake and coffee. It was a lovely morning and am so thankful that we have so many loving friends and family. I hav

Back to the doctor

We have been busy trying to get Burke to gain weight as well as get rid of this jaundice. He is not big on the doctor but I think that is because they are always stripping him down and it is freezing in there and pricking his little foot to check his billirubin. Today we were sent home but his billirubin is up again. I am not real sure the labs were checked right at the hospital. Dr. Martin said it would surprise her if he dropped from a 17 to an 8 in 24 hours. His lab today came back as a 12. Poo! I am so ready to be done with this. We head back on Friday for another weight check and prick. - Sarah
