Hello World

Hello world, I know I know it has been a while since I posted last. Things have been a little busy around here. My photography business usually slows down the first of the year but has not done so this year. I am so thankful for having a job that I absolutely love. Mamie's Poppy Plates has been also keeping me super busy. We are working on a new awesome website and I signed papers last Friday down at Mitchell Williams to get our 501(c)(3). When that comes back we will officially be a non-profit organization. I can't believe it! I have spent some time up in NWA also meeting with people and we have partnered up with Imagine Studio and have formed a group of girls up there to head up MPP there. It is an awesome group of women who have been personally touched by a loss themselves or have had a friend that has had a loss. I am truly amazed everyday who God brings into my life. He is so good and I know this project is going to go so far thanks to so many of you out there that are supporting us. Stay tuned on more from Mamie's Poppy Plates. Be sure to check out our blog www.mamiespoppyplates.com and friend us on facebook. We need your support, and so do all the families out there going through this horrible loss.
On a different note, we have been busy working on Burke's room. I am excited about how it is turning out. I will post pictures soon. It is SO cute and so what I wanted. Natural, earthly and vintage. Now all we need is our baby boy.
I am in my 23rd week now and boy is this baby moving and shaking in there. He kicked so hard the other night I saw my stomach move. I think I am in for it when he gets bigger. That little booger might break a rib ;) I am going in to see Dr. Sellers next week for my glucose test. I really hope that all comes back fine so I don't have to stay there all day drinking that yummy orange drink :) I also talked to our genetics counselor yesterday and we have moved our big appointment that was originally scheduled for the 31st to the 21st. YAHOO!!!! I am very anxious to see Burke and make sure everything is okay. I feel positive that it is. Once that is over we can move forward and get past all of that craziness.
There are so many babies on the way. Sarah, one of my best friends, had her baby girl Genna Kay a little over a week ago. She is SO adorable. I am going over on Tuesday to get my hands on her and take some family pictures of the three of them. I can't wait. I love photographing families so much. I love documenting real life! It is so special to me and I know when these families look back on their pictures they will see exactly what they were doing in that very moment. Anyway, enough talking. I just wanted to say hi and that I am still here and blogging. Don't give up on me :)
Everyone have a wonderful weekend

Thank you to our donors

We received this sweet note this morning. As sad as it is to us that others have to receive a Mamie's Poppy Plate, we are thankful when we hear how they might be helping the families who experience this loss.

Sarah, You have been on my mind a lot lately. We have used Mamie's Plates much too often here at Baptist. Yet I am so glad we have them. What a reminder of the tiny lives.........I drove to Cabot and gave a mom hers a few weeks ago. She was going to give her baby up for adoption. She has a 17 month old and a 4 year old. Then her tiny baby "Precious" died and was delivered at 3 lb 12 oz. Her nurse made the plate and the next week I called her at home. She wanted the plate and told me the baby's name. She cried when I handed it to her. She had a shadowbox on the living rm wall in this duplex on a lonely street. She wants to hang the plate next to the momentos of her baby. She wanted me to thank you for honoring her baby by your gift. Please pass this story on to the sweet families who donate to Mamie's. And know you are in my prayers for your baby you are carrying. I pray he will be healthy and beautiful and everything you dream of. Bless you, nancy nurse of SHARE at BHLR

If you have received a plate and would like to share your story you can email us @ mamiespoppyplates@gmail.com. If you want it to be a private message to Sarah just let her know and we will not post it.
