Baby Burke- Please Pray

Taylor and I went in for our big ultrasound this morning. I am 18 weeks along now, so they were checking out our baby boy closely. They found 2 genetic markers that caused a red flag. One cyst on the brain and his kidneys are enlarged.
We need lots of prayers right now. Prayers for these markers to disappear and for our baby boy to be healthy. We also need prayers for our sanity as we wait, hope and pray. We will go back for another ultrasound in 8 weeks (March 31).
We were told not to look this up on the internet and would appreciate only positive comments on this situation. God is good and we are leaving it in His hands.
Thanks for your prayers,
Sarah

  1. If Ben and I have learned one thing through our experiences it's that we serve a great God that works in mysterious ways!! I pray these markers go away and for your peace of mind!! I'm on my knees thinking and praying for you guys!!

  2. God is good! Here is one of my favorite verses..
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” (Ephesians 3:20) Do you mind if I repost something on my facebook page to ask for prayer? I won't go into personal details? I am also adding you to our prayer chain at church! I am believing for nothing but wholeness!

  5. May His Shalom Peace be upon you and yours! (According to Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance Shalom also means completeness, wholeness, health, peace, welfare, safety soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, the absence of agitation or discord. Shalom comes from the root verb shalom meaning to be complete, perfect and full.)

  7. Violet had the same type of cyst on her brain at our first ultrasound, too. I don't remember if it was gone at the next ultrasound or not, but it was never a problem. She's got a good brain(ha) and I'm sure your sweet boy will, too! Thinking of you.

  11. I am a friend of Gretchen Davis - and saw this post. I am a neonatology fellow at ACH/UAMS and I just wanted to make a comment that may make you feel better. I read reports on LOTS of babies where these two things have been seen on early ultrasound - and most of the time the babies come out great! :) Positive thoughts! :)

  13. Sarah,

I'm a friend of Crystal Goss and saw her link to your blog on facebook. My second daughter had a Choroid Plexus Cyst at 19 weeks too. It went away by the 3rd trimester (which I understand that they always do) and I'm happy to report she is a happy and healthy 7 month old today. I think it is a little more common than we realize. I will be praying for Baby Burke.

  22. Sarah, you and your family are always in my thoughts even though I haven't seen you in so many years that I can't count. I've followed your blog and told your sister on occasion how amazed I always am when I think of the little Sarah I new back when Britney and me were such "big girls" and now see this unbelievably strong and powerful woman that I so strongly admire. I am sending you every ounce of positive energy that I have to help you get through this stressful time. You will be in my thoughts and prayers until March 31 and on until sweet little Burke is in your arms. Much love to you all, Libby (Kennett) Speth

  25. Hey Sarah...I was so excited to see my pics the other day, I didn't look any farther on your blog! I feel bad...I wish I had seen this! Hayden had a choroid plexus cyst too, and you saw him not long ago...just fine! We were scared to death too, and were also told not to go home and get on the computer! His had gotten even larger at our next ultrasound, and we were sent to a MFM specialist for a detailed ultrasound, and he told us two things that made me feel tons better. First, that the cysts are in blood vessels above the brain matter, not in the actual brain, and that they usually don't go away until about 26-28 weeks. Hearing that it wasn't part of the actual brain really took a lot of my worry away...I hadn't been able to imagine how he was ok with that huge white spot we saw on the screen, but knowing it was not part of his actual brain was a huge relief! We had several ultrasounds later on due to my BP, and no one ever commented again on it! And you just saw what a normal little boy he is. I know how long and scary these next 8 weeks will be, but there are a lot of prayers coming your way for a healthy baby boy!!

Burke is 3!!!!!

Okay I have decided that time is going by way too fast.  Burke just turned 3 the beginning of June!  I can not believe it.  I feel like just yesterday I was in the hospital having the little guy!  We had a fun small family party and he is loving some super hero's right now so that was the theme :)  Silas really wanted to jump out when he walked in and yell surprise so that is what we did :)  Burke is super shy and he really wasn't a fan of it all.  Pibby and Pops got him his first bike and it is SO cute.   I picked up a balloon for all the kids and one special spider man one for Boo.  He has always loved balloons.  He said the sweetest thing....... he wanted to let his balloons go up to Mamie so she would know that it was his birthday.  I couldn't believe he let his special Spider Man one go.  It made me want to cry.  She should be here with us.  ANYWAYS, it was a fun day and I got some pictures of course and a few videos.  Happy 3rd Birthday Burkie BOO!  We love you so so

NO FEAR!!!

I took the kids to the park this afternoon once the sun came out.  It was so beautiful and we love Woodlands Edge park.  Lots of trees, green space to run and Slides:) Winnie is small but that girl is mighty.  She has NO FEAR when it comes to the slides.  Which is totally different for me since Burke has always been so cautious.  I love days like this.  Feeling very blessed! - Sarah
