It's been awhile

I hope everyone is having a great holiday season. I haven't posted in a while. We have been super busy with work and things are finally slowing down. Taylor and I have been doing well. Just trying to get through the holiday's without totally loosing it. We decided not to decorate this year. We just didn't have it in us. I did put a little Christmas tree on the front porch so we don't look like total scrooges.
Last weekend Taylor and I went to Fayetteville for Owen's baptism. I was really worried about how I would handle it all but I did really well. Right before the ceremony started I had to excuse myself and have a little cry. I stood in this tiny little bathroom staring in the mirror at my red eyes. I kept praying to God to give me the strength to get through this. A few minutes later Taylor came through the door. He asked me if I was okay and if I wanted to go back in. I looked at him and he gave me a smile. I knew right then I would be okay. I love my husband so much and am so blessed to have him. Being the godmother I got to stand up with Jayna and Matthew during the beautiful service. It was very special. Owen looked like a little doll in his Christening gown. What a beautiful baby.
I have a few special things I want to share with you guys.
First is the gift Ashley (Taylor's sister) and Drew gave us for Christmas. It is a prefect addition for the garden.
Second, Britney bought a mini Christmas tree to take down to Mamie's grave. She bought sweet ornaments that we hung all over it.
Third is a book that a friend from high school made for me right after Mamie died. I haven't seen her probably since she graduated and she is 2 years older than me. So around 13 yrs. When the package arrived I was speechless. The thought and love that she put into it just amazes me. She took quotes that people had left on my facebook page for Taylor and I and printed them on white cards. Then she left places for me to put pictures of Mamie through out the book. It is perfect. I finally put it together and we have it out in our den with a hot pink dragon fly sitting on top for everyone to see. I love it so much.
Lastly, I have been wanting to get a tattoo ever since Mamie died. I emailed a friend photographer who is also an amazing graphic designer. We talked a little bit about what I was wanting. I told him how we called her Poppy Seed before we found out at 15 weeks that she was a girl and then we named her Mamie. He came up with a few different designs. The first one he sent me I knew was the ONE right when I saw it. I have been holding on to the design trying to decide when to get it. I thought I would get it close to Christmas day since that will be 6mths on the day. Well, this past Tuesday we headed down to 7th street and I got my Mamie tattoo. I love that it is on my left wrist and how sweet and dainty it is. I am left handed and I can see it all the time. I was so happy when Amanda, Britney and Becky said they would come along. I really wished that Taylor could have been there but he was stuck in meetings. So without further ado..... What I love about it design is the poppy seed down at the bottom and then sit swivels up into her name.
Thanks to Amanda for the amazing pictures! Here is a slideshow

  3. Sarah- Words can't express how much it meant to have you standing up there with us. You are like a sister to me and I am so thankful to have you in my life. God answered my prayers for you that day. Thank you. I love the tattoo. I love the book and the garden stone. But most of all I love you for your friendship, selflessness, the example you set for each of us every day, and for sharing Mamie with so many. Love you, Jayna

Burke is 3!!!!!

Okay I have decided that time is going by way too fast.  Burke just turned 3 the beginning of June!  I can not believe it.  I feel like just yesterday I was in the hospital having the little guy!  We had a fun small family party and he is loving some super hero's right now so that was the theme :)  Silas really wanted to jump out when he walked in and yell surprise so that is what we did :)  Burke is super shy and he really wasn't a fan of it all.  Pibby and Pops got him his first bike and it is SO cute.   I picked up a balloon for all the kids and one special spider man one for Boo.  He has always loved balloons.  He said the sweetest thing....... he wanted to let his balloons go up to Mamie so she would know that it was his birthday.  I couldn't believe he let his special Spider Man one go.  It made me want to cry.  She should be here with us.  ANYWAYS, it was a fun day and I got some pictures of course and a few videos.  Happy 3rd Birthday Burkie BOO!  We love you so so

Baby Burke- Please Pray

Taylor and I went in for our big ultrasound this morning. I am 18 weeks along now, so they were checking out our baby boy closely. They found 2 genetic markers that caused a red flag. One cyst on the brain and his kidneys are enlarged. We need lots of prayers right now. Prayers for these markers to disappear and for our baby boy to be healthy. We also need prayers for our sanity as we wait, hope and pray. We will go back for another ultrasound in 8 weeks (March 31). We were told not to look this up on the internet and would appreciate only positive comments on this situation. God is good and we are leaving it in His hands. Thanks for your prayers, Sarah

NO FEAR!!!

I took the kids to the park this afternoon once the sun came out.  It was so beautiful and we love Woodlands Edge park.  Lots of trees, green space to run and Slides:) Winnie is small but that girl is mighty.  She has NO FEAR when it comes to the slides.  Which is totally different for me since Burke has always been so cautious.  I love days like this.  Feeling very blessed! - Sarah
