The loss of another baby

Last week was another really hard week. We were super busy in the office when I got a text from my sweet sweet friend Mitzi saying they had gone in for their 20 week ultrasound and there was no heartbeat. I wanted to start screaming. WHY! Why is this happening to so many people that I love? Why does it happen to anyone at all. It just isn't fair. The pain you feel..... I can't even describe it. No one should have to join this horrible club. I immediately picked up the phone and called her back. As soon as I heard her sweet voice on the other end my eyes welled up with tears. She told me she didn't know what happened. I could tell she was in total shock. We closed down shop here and Britney and Amanda got out with me to go gather some very important things for Mitzi. Touch has been so important to me. Anything that Mamie touched is so precious to me. I headed to Target and found a soft cream blanket that we could wrap the baby in, I also found 2 books that really helped me t...

Busy Week

These past couple of weeks have been a bit of a blur. Besides being extremely busy with work last week was also a very emotional one. Monday is where the craziness began. NILMDTS sends out a mass text whenever they have been called in for a photographer. That is when the text began coming in and continued everyday last week with another loss of a baby. It was overwhelming and just made my heart ache. Lynette has told me that there are peak times when this happens and Spring is one of those. There are just so many people due around this time. I was able to go and photograph my previous clients cousin sweet baby boy on Tuesday. This is my second session but my first full term baby. He was so beautiful. Dark hair with curls and the most precious face. I had to get myself in the zone to document all his little features that will last this family a life time. I think the hardest part was being there with this lifeless little body that was perfect in every way while just in the ...

Please Pray!

Today has been a very emotional day. I got a text around 10am from NILMDTS that a baby that was delivered at 38 weeks was about to pass. I froze when I saw the text. It made me so sick to think of what that family was going through. The whole day my head has been in the clouds thinking of this family. Why does this have to happen? Just a little while ago Taylor and I were snuggled up on the couch having a glass of wine and watching tv when I got a call from one of my favorite wedding clients from a few years back. She began crying as she told me her cousin went in for her 38 week check up today and they could not find the heartbeat...... I immediately began having flash backs of me sitting in the ultrasound room as they told me Mamie had died. What is going on??? I just want to scream right now! My client wanted to know if I would be willing to photograph their precious baby once he was delivered. That was a question I didn't have to think about. I told her...

A Way to Give Back

Hi, We just returned from a Disney World trip with Mom and Dad. We took Silas and had a blast! It was really nice to get away from the cold and soak up some warm sunshine for a few days. Taylor and Jason stayed in Little Rock since it was such a quick trip. We will have to go back now that we know the basics :-) Sarah will have pictures on her work blog soon I am sure! Before we left Sarah joined Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep , an organization that offers professional pictures to families who aren’t able to bring their babies home from the hospital. The photographers involved donate their time and talent in order to give lasting memories to the families who wouldn’t otherwise have pictures to remember their babies. Sarah says this is just a small way for her to give back after all that has been given to her through the loss of our precious Mamie. There has been a lot of press here in Little Rock on the organization recently. Here is the segment from KARK 4. Now I Lay Me Down to...

March of Dimes Video

About 2mths after losing Mamie my very good friend Crystal Goss called me to see if we could help her out. She and her husband had been chosen to be the March of Dimes Ambassador Family of 2009 for Arkansas. Crystal for all of you that don't know is an amazing photographer. After having her first child Brayson 2 months early and spending months in the UAMS nicu she decided she needed to give back. She not only became involved in the March of Dimes but also Know I Lay Me Down to Sleep . Donating her time to document those precious moments for families to hold on to. When we found out Mamie had died Britney new exactly who she needed to call. Me being a photographer myself I knew pictures were a must and having Crystal there not only as a friend but also as a photographer capturing those moments meant the world to us. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have those picture. I feel like I could never repay Crystal for everything she did that day. When she cal...
