Happy Halloween

This Halloween has been a blast.  Burke being able to walk and understand more what is going on around him makes it so fun.  Silas decided he wanted to be Dracula this year so Brit and I made Abe and Burke their own baby bat costumes :)  I always love doing crafts and making these costumes have been so fun and super easy.  We actually got the idea from Becky our friend who made Ike the wolf last year while her daughter was Little Red Riding Hood.  Anyway, there were some parties on Sunday that we took Burke too.  First we went to his school carnival where they had live animals and trick or treating out of trunks of cars.  It was so cute.  After that we headed over to the Butlers house for a super fun kids party.  They had all kinds of fun stuff, a popcorn machine, hot dogs, face painting, bounce houses and more.  Burke was obsessed with the bounce houses.  I had to crawl in and get him because he wouldn't come out.  You should have seen that :)

Today Britney and I took the boys to the zoo for Boo at the Zoo.  Most of the stuff didn't open till tonight but they still had so much fun.  There was a hay maze that we could not get them out of.  We also took them for a train ride which is always fun!  I really want to go to Boo at the Zoo next year at night so we can see everything.  It looks super cool.

Tonight our neighborhood goes all out with a Halloweenie roast down at the beach then they take the kids on hay rides around to trick or treat.  Next to our house some people on our street made a haunted trail that they have been working on all week.  I can not wait to see it tonight.

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe Halloween.  I will post some pictures later from all our events :)

Introducing Mamie's Poppy Plates

As you all know, I am Mamie's mom, and Mamie was my first child. I was pregnant with her from October 2008 to June 25th, 2009 when she was born a sleeping angel (stillborn) two and a half weeks before her due date. Stillbirth and infant death are realities that too many parents face even today. Did you know that each year 1 in 115 babies delivered is stillborn? And 1 in every 102 newborns die before the age of 28 days old? Now, a year after losing Mamie, I have started Mamie's Poppy Plates, my organization providing keepsakes for parents who are not able to take their babies home from the hospital. Because handprints and footprints are something that we cherish as parents of children in Heaven or here on this earth, I wanted to find a beautiful way to preserve such a precious reminder of our babies. Your donation of $13 will provide a plate to bereaved families who are delivering at St. Vincent Hospital. Their baby’s birth stats, hand and footprints will be stampe...

Baby Burke- Please Pray

Taylor and I went in for our big ultrasound this morning. I am 18 weeks along now, so they were checking out our baby boy closely. They found 2 genetic markers that caused a red flag. One cyst on the brain and his kidneys are enlarged. We need lots of prayers right now. Prayers for these markers to disappear and for our baby boy to be healthy. We also need prayers for our sanity as we wait, hope and pray. We will go back for another ultrasound in 8 weeks (March 31). We were told not to look this up on the internet and would appreciate only positive comments on this situation. God is good and we are leaving it in His hands. Thanks for your prayers, Sarah

Please Pray!

Today has been a very emotional day. I got a text around 10am from NILMDTS that a baby that was delivered at 38 weeks was about to pass. I froze when I saw the text. It made me so sick to think of what that family was going through. The whole day my head has been in the clouds thinking of this family. Why does this have to happen? Just a little while ago Taylor and I were snuggled up on the couch having a glass of wine and watching tv when I got a call from one of my favorite wedding clients from a few years back. She began crying as she told me her cousin went in for her 38 week check up today and they could not find the heartbeat...... I immediately began having flash backs of me sitting in the ultrasound room as they told me Mamie had died. What is going on??? I just want to scream right now! My client wanted to know if I would be willing to photograph their precious baby once he was delivered. That was a question I didn't have to think about. I told her...
