22 Weeks!

I am 22 weeks as of Monday. I had my doctors appointment that I was suppose to have last week on Monday as well. Everything went great. I have gained some lbs. but we won't talk about that. Mamie you can look in my prego planner if you are really interested. I'll be sure to keep it for you ;) So this past weekend we went on a church retreat with our Sunday school class to the good ole town of Russellville. It was so nice to get away with good friends and veg out. We stayed at this really neat place on Lake Dardanelle. They cooked really good food and man did we eat alot:0 I felt like I needed to run 20 miles when I got home. Not everyone from the class got to come. A few of the couples that are really involved in the class just had babies so they decided to stay home and not keep us all up. :) Others had to work and we missed them all. We have such an amazing group of people in our class. I feel we can call on any of them for anything. When Brit was pregnant with Silas I think there were 8 other girls prego at the same time. And there were a lot of boys born in that group. There is a new round of us pregnant. I think right before November there were 8 or 9 of us. We have had a new baby born almost every month. Taylor and I are the last ones as of now. I won't be surprised if someone turns up pregnant soon. There have been 2 boys and 2 girls born so far. Anyway I think it is going to be so fun for all of our children to group up together. Sunday when we got home and checked the mail I had a package. WEEEEEE I love getting packages in the mail. So fun! I started squealing when I pulled out a hot pink bow and white ruffled bloomers/diaper cover with Mamie in hot pink on the bottom. This is our first gift with her name on it. AH, I love it. Jayme, Carter and their new baby girl Ellie sent those to us. Thanks so much guys. I can't wait for her to get here so I can put them on. The bow might not work for a while if Mamie is bald like Taylor and I both were. Who knows she might surprise us with head full of hair. LOL Here is what baby center send us this week. Hello, Sarah! At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily. >> Read more about this week

Baby Burke- Please Pray

Taylor and I went in for our big ultrasound this morning. I am 18 weeks along now, so they were checking out our baby boy closely. They found 2 genetic markers that caused a red flag. One cyst on the brain and his kidneys are enlarged. We need lots of prayers right now. Prayers for these markers to disappear and for our baby boy to be healthy. We also need prayers for our sanity as we wait, hope and pray. We will go back for another ultrasound in 8 weeks (March 31). We were told not to look this up on the internet and would appreciate only positive comments on this situation. God is good and we are leaving it in His hands. Thanks for your prayers, Sarah

Introducing Mamie's Poppy Plates

As you all know, I am Mamie's mom, and Mamie was my first child. I was pregnant with her from October 2008 to June 25th, 2009 when she was born a sleeping angel (stillborn) two and a half weeks before her due date. Stillbirth and infant death are realities that too many parents face even today. Did you know that each year 1 in 115 babies delivered is stillborn? And 1 in every 102 newborns die before the age of 28 days old? Now, a year after losing Mamie, I have started Mamie's Poppy Plates, my organization providing keepsakes for parents who are not able to take their babies home from the hospital. Because handprints and footprints are something that we cherish as parents of children in Heaven or here on this earth, I wanted to find a beautiful way to preserve such a precious reminder of our babies. Your donation of $13 will provide a plate to bereaved families who are delivering at St. Vincent Hospital. Their baby’s birth stats, hand and footprints will be stampe...

Leaving it in God's hands

Taylor and I have been given the okay to try and get pregnant again. I haven't blogged about it because I really wasn't sure I wanted everyone to know. I remember everyone saying how fertile you are after you have a baby and how most people get pregnant quickly. It has been 4 months now and I have really been struggling with all of this. I guess I had it in my head that God wouldn't make us wait very long after all the pain we have gone through. For those of you who don't know it took us right around a year to get pregnant with Mamie. I am not big into taking drugs. Not that I think it is bad for people to take medicine. It just isn't for me. My mom found out about this book called "The Infertility Cure" written by Randine Lewis, Ph.D. You can click on the book and it will link to a book store. We ran out and got the book and I began interviewing acupuncturist. I found a wonderful lady Dr. Lei at Shie Ji Acupuncture Clinic . She is an amazing woman. N...
